Advanced Solutions for Erosion Control and Soil Reinforcement
MacMat Geomats are engineered using high-quality synthetic filaments intricately heat-tangled to form a three-dimensional, flexible, and highly porous layer, with porosity rates exceeding 90%. These geomats offer a durable and eco-friendly solution for erosion control, effectively adapting to diverse climatic conditions and environments, whether dry or wet. Their ability to integrate with natural vegetation promotes healthy root growth, while simultaneously protecting the soil surface from erosive agents like water runoff and rain impact.
For projects that require additional structural support, MacMat R combines the geomat structure with a reinforcement layer, available in double-twisted steel mesh or synthetic geogrid. This configuration provides high tensile strength and stiffness, making it ideal for complex applications such as slope stabilization, soil nailing, and protection against landslides and rockfall. The versatility of MacMat R makes it suitable for challenging scenarios, including steep slopes, coastal defenses, and high-traffic embankments.
Both MacMat and MacMat R are excellent choices for civil engineering, infrastructure, and environmental protection projects. Engineers can leverage Maccaferri’s design software ECoMac and the eDesign platform to develop customized solutions for erosion control and soil reinforcement, ensuring optimal project outcomes. AMASYA HIGHWAY SLOPE PROTECTION PROJECT
Türkiye
Amasya is located in the Northern part of Turkey near the Black Sea. In this mountainous region, the Amasya highway is cut through various slopes on several parts of the route. Due to the mainly fine material the slopes are consisting of, rainfall and humid climate are affecting the slope stability drastically. Although global stability problems were not detected, small ranged surficial material slides were observed on several occasions by the highway ministry. Due to these circumstances, slope material sliding onto the highway was an permanent endangerment for the route safety and forced the authorities to close lanes from time to time during cleaning works.

MICOROSA ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION PROJECT
Italy
The Micorosa area, designated as a National Interest Site (SIN), posed significant environmental challenges due to the presence of an industrial waste landfill. The critical environmental levels in this SIN area necessitated a permanent security intervention. The project, authorized by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, aimed to address the persistent issues through capping and physical girdling using a plastic diaphragm.

DEADMAN WASH, TSMC CHANNEL INFRASTRUCTURE
United States
They needed to protect their new infrastructure from erosion caused by the Deadman Wash in North Phoenix Arizona. They needed to re-grade a channel that was 2 miles long, 300 ft wide and 6 ft tall to divert the storm water and prevent soil loss at the bed and banks. We also used semi-rigid hydraulic protection to suit the arid climate of the region. They needed to complete the project in a short time, with enough monetary savings and approval from the Maricopa Flood Control District. The Installation of the project was performed by BUESING Corporation Contracting.
