Modular solutions for reinforced soil structures
TerraMesh™ is Maccaferri’s range of modular systems for reinforced soil walls, mechanically stabilised earth structures and slope reinforcement. Designed to respond to complex site conditions, TerraMesh™ helps overcome challenges such as weak soils, high loads, steep topography, limited space, material availability and the need for fast installation.
The core of TerraMesh™ is a simple but effective concept: pre-assembled units made of continuous double twisted wire mesh, where the facing, reinforcement and lid are part of one single panel. This reduces on-site operations, supports faster installation and minimises the risk of construction errors.
From small retaining structures to large infrastructure schemes, TerraMesh™ provides a durable and efficient solution for reinforced soil applications, with three different facing options: gabion, vegetated and architectural.
TerraMesh™ System
Gabion-facing solution for reinforced soil walls with a vertical rock face. Its pre-assembled units form gabion cells for stone confinement, allowing the use of locally available or on-site stones whenever suitable, helping reduce material transport. Designed for demanding applications and high-load conditions, it combines fast installation, durability and a natural rock-facing.
TerraMesh™ Green
Vegetated-facing solution for reinforced soil slopes and embankments. Designed to promote rapid vegetation growth, it combines an angled front face, erosion control blanket and suitable topsoil to create a natural green finish. Ideal for projects where structural performance and environmental integration must work together.
TerraMesh™ Mineral
Architectural rock-facing solution for reinforced soil structures with a sloping mineral finish. Its pre-assembled units include welded mesh panels and bracing struts that hold the face at the correct angle during construction, with no need for external framework. Ideal for projects where structural performance, reduced stone consumption and a clean-faced aesthetic are required.
Paramesh Walls
An advanced configuration combining TerraMesh™ units with our monoaxial geogrids that allows reinforced soil structures to reach steeper slopes, support higher loads and reduce settlements, while optimising the use of reinforcement only where needed.
PoliMac®
A tested high-performance coating designed to enhance the durability of TerraMesh™ units in the most demanding environments. Compared with PVC coating, PoliMac® delivers significantly higher performance: 10x abrasion resistance, 2x chemical resistance, 4x cold weather performance and 4x UV resistance. This protection supports a design life of up to 120 years and helps reduce long-term maintenance needs.
Design and assessment software
Maccaferri supports TerraMesh™ projects with a dedicated suite of software tools. MacSTARS W helps design reinforced soil walls and slopes, performing stability checks and supporting the optimisation of the structure. MacCycle Assessment enables comparative LCA studies, evaluating the environmental impact of reinforced soil structures.

HIGHWAY ROUTE SECURING AND WIDENING
The Black Sea Region of Türkiye has a climate characterized by heavy rainfall throughout the year. This situation causes serious geotechnical and drainage problems, particularly in highway infrastructures constructed on mountainous and steep terrains. Similarly, along the Devrekani–Çatalzeytin route in Kastamonu province, intense rainfall endangered the safety of the road platform, creating the need for a retaining system in order to widen the roadway platform. The weak ground conditions in the area, combined with the reduction in bearing capacity due to rainfall, made the implementation of permanent stabilization systems essential. The aim of the project was to ensure the long-term safety of both the highway platform and the existing infrastructure, while also widening the road platform. Within this scope, a retaining system that is environmentally compatible and capable of exhibiting high flexibility was required. Maccaferri’s Terramesh retaining wall solution was evaluated as an ideal system to meet these requirements. In the project, stepped modular wall types with varying heights were implemented, resulting in a system that is both aesthetically pleasing and durable. Ultimately, the project aimed to control ground movements in the area and provide a long-lasting roadway solution.

HASANKEYF ARCHEOPARK PROJECT
The 12,000-year-old town city was flooded during the Hasankeyf Dam process. Before it was destroyed, all historical and cultural artifacts were moved from in the Batman district to the new Hasankeyf Cultural Park area through a special technique to preserve and transfer history, environmental and cultural values to future generations. Within the scope of the Hasankeyf Archeopark Project, which is located in the Mesopotamian region and contains many types of artifacts, stability problems became evident during the slope excavations on the banks of the Tigris River. Hence, it was decided to support these slopes with retaining walls. Since the rising of the river waters depending on the seasons and the retaining walls being under water, instead of classical retaining walls, alternative systems which has self- drain speciality is being turned forward.

TERRAMESH RETAINING WALL KORCA-ERSEKA-LOT2 PHASE1
Albania
The Korca - Erseka Road project is located in the southeast of Albania. The project construction started in March 2021 and finished the first part in January 2022. Currently, the road axis Korca-Erseka has a length of 45 kilometers, while with the completion of the new segment the distance is reduced to 35 kilometers. Its construction will promote the further development of tourism in the southeast of the country by bringing closer two areas with great potential, such as Korca and Erseka. With its completion, the distance between Korca and Erseka is reduced to 20 minutes. Being an unique design with back to back earthed filled structures, the contractor company ANK asked Maccaferri for our support for these project. After runing the profiles in Macstars 4. 0 we found out that the geogrid reinforcement lengths weren’t satisfying the stability checks. cks.
